DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team came back from a two-goal deficit and scored the game winning goal with 41 seconds left in regulation to defeat Adrian College 4-3 Sunday night at Mars Lakeview Arena.

The first period of the game was played to a 0-0 tie.  Both teams had equal opportunities to score, but both goaltenders were solid between the pipes.

In the second period, Adrian lit up the scoreboard twice to jump out to a 2-0 lead.  The Saints battled back with a power-play goal by Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) with assists from Michelle Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) and sister, Monika Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftsschule KV Chur (Swiss National Team)).  The Saints would then score only 19 seconds later with an even strength goal by Fischer.

The teams would go into the second intermission 2-2 with the Saints leading the shots-on-goal column 13-to-11.

Adrian would strike first in the third, scoring with 10:32 left on the board.  The Saints would answer a minute later with Waidacher scoring her second goal of the game and 13th of the year.  Alana Levido (Richmond, British Columbia/Burnaby North Secondary (Pacific Steelers)) assisted on the goal.

The Saints would win the game in stunning fashion when Jordy Klimek (Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) put one home with 49 seconds left in the contest.  Malin Zetterberg (Stockholm, Sweden/Huddinge Gymnasium) and Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) would assist on the goal.  The Saints would go on to win 4-3.

Shannon Connolly (Toronto, Ontario/Havergal College) would pick up the win for the Saints, stopping 17 shots.  Brittany Zeches would stop 18 shots for Adrian.

St. Scholastica had 22 total shots, two more than Adrian (5-5-1).  Adrian was 2-for-5 on the power-play while the Saints were 2-for-6.

The Saints (7-2) will look to win six straight as they face Adrian in the second game of the series Monday night at Mars Lakeview Arena.  Face off is set for 7 p.m.
