Men’s Cross Country Finishes Season at NCAA Central Regional Championships

WAVERLY, Iowa – The St. Scholastica men's cross country team placed 22nd out of 26 teams on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Central Regional Championships, hosted by Wartburg College.

Nebraska Wesleyan University won the meet with 93 points, while St. Olaf College was second with 107 points. Those two programs now move on to the NCAA Division III National Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh next weekend. The Saints finished with 641 points.

Freshman Alex Schoneberger (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) was the lone CSS runner to place in the top 100 individually, placing 83rd overall with a time of 27:14. The top 35 runners earn all-region accolades.

Ethan Schubert (Two Harbors, Minn./Home School) was the next Saint to cross the finish line in 128th place with a time of 28:10. Senior Tony Bye (Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell HS) was four sports back in 132nd, finishing in a time of 28:16. Bye finishes his CSS country career as a three-time All-UMAC selection.

Ben Carlson (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS (Saint Mary’s)) was 147th with a time of 29:09 and Wes Stubbs (Britt, Minn./Virginia HS) was 151st, posting time of 29:25. The sixth Saints finisher was Matthew Quanrud (Preston, Minn./Filmore Central HS) in 155th and the seventh was John Hunn (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) in 160th. Quanrud's time was 29:35 and Hunn's time was 30:33.
