Allen records first double-double this season for the Saints

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team started both halves on a combined 16-0 run on its way to handing Presentation College its first conference loss with a 63-45 victory tonight at Reif gym.

The Saints improve to 6-7 overall and 2-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). Presentation falls to 4-7 overall and is also 2-1 in the UMAC. CSS snaps a three-game home losing streak to Presentation.

CSS jumped out to a 9-0 lead and that margin held for the rest of the first half. The Saints led by as much as 14 and went into halftime with a 37-27 advantage.

The Saints shot 46-percent from the field in the half, while limiting Presentation to 37-percent. The Saints owned the glass 22-14, but all of the other categories were similar.

CSS then opened the second half almost as well as the first half, going on a 7-0 run after a pair of #Kelly Cinquegrani# (Jr.-Buffalo, Minn.) jumpers. The St. Scholastica lead never got below 12 the rest of the way as the Saints prevailed 63-45.

The story of the second half was second-chance points. The Saints out-scored Presentation 13-2 in the half and 22-6 for the game. Free throws were also pivotal in the second half as CSS was 6-for-7 and Presentation was 8-for-17.

The Saints shot 38-percent for the game and held Presentation to 29-percent, including 20-percent in the second half. Presentation was 0-for-9 on 3-point attempts. CSS out-rebounded Presentation 50-32 in the contest.

#Katie Christensen# (Sr.-Elk River, Minn.) led the way for St. Scholastica matching a season-high with 17 points, including 6-for-6 from the free throw line. #Kirsten Haukom# (Sr.-Marshall, Minn.) added 10 points and four assists. #Bri Allen# (Fr.-West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) had the Saints' first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. #Laura Amys# (So.-South Range, Wis./Superior) just missed a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds. Sara Gregersen led Presentation with a game-high 19 points.
