MENOMONIE, Wis. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team was defeated this afternoon by Wartburg College 72-44 in the consolation game of the Quality Inn & Suites Turkey Shootout, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stout, at Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Saints fall to 2-4 overall, while the Knights earn their first win of the season and are now 1-3. This was the first meeting between the two schools.
The Knights had a 10-2 lead early, but the Saints came back with a 9-0 run to take an 11-10 lead with 15 minutes left. However, Wartburg would go on a 26-1 run as the Saints did not score a field goal the rest of the first half and trailed 40-18 at halftime.
The margin got as close as 20 in the second half as Wartburg went on to win by a score of 72-44.
CSS shot just 24-percent from the field for the game. The Knights shot 50-percent for the game. The Saints committed 29 turnovers for the second consecutive day. Wartburg scored 31 points off of those turnovers.

Fr.-West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) added seven points. Samantha Harrington had a game-high 18 points for Wartburg.
The Saints begin Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action on Friday when it travels to face Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minn. The tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
