COLERAINE, Minn. – #Tyler Kjorstad# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./Marshall) led the Saints men in Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Collegiate and USSA Supertour action today in Coleraine, Minn.

The senior, who has led a majority of the team's efforts so far this season, clocked a time of 28:01.to finish 30th overall in the Supertour and 14th in CCSA conference standings over the 10-kilometer course in the classic technique. This also serves as an NCAA Championship qualifier.

David Chamberlain of the Caribou, Maine, won the overall Supertour race in a time of 25:25.6, while Petter Sjulstad of Michigan Tech won the CCSA competition in a time of 26:14.9. The Saints remaining two scorers in the collegiate competition were senior #Jason Kask# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./East) in 16th (28:17.0) and sophomore #Waylon Manske# (So.-Bemidji, Minn.) in 18th (28:21.4).

“This was a step in the right direction for the guys,” said Saints Head Coach Chad Salmela. “We have had a hard time feeling sharp and getting enough training in with the cold weather in Alaska, followed by the cold weather at home. This week of nice weather helped us get a little sharper, but I would say any of us-the coaches or the skiers-were ecstatic about today's race. It was solid, but we can be better than today showed, and we are confident we will be.”

The Supertour and CCSA regional qualifier continues tomorrow in Coleraine with the men's 10km freestyle.
