MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNS 24TH AT GRIAK MEET

MINNEAPOLIS – The St. Scholastica men's cross country team placed 24th out of 31 teams today with 735 points at the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational.

Just like the women, the Saints men's team was the highest finishing of the four Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) schools competing. #Jake Turman# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./Central) led the Saints, finishing 109th out of 307 runners with a time of 28:08. #Tony Bye# (Fr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell) was 128th overall with a time of 28:34. #Pat Bigaouette# (Fr.-Chaska, Minn.) was the third-fastest Saint with a time of 28:52 and finishing in 142nd place overall. #Kyle Smith# (Sr.-Wright, Minn./Cromwell-Wright) was 176th overall with a time of 30:18. #Glen Gross# (So.-Hoyt Lakes, Minn./Mesabi East) was not far behind, finishing 180th overall with a time of 30:31.

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the event with 52 points. Emory was second with 141 points. Ohio Northern was third with 147 points. Hamline University was fourth with 156 points and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville was fifth with 161 points.

The Saints will next take part in the Pine Hill Invitational on Saturday, October 11. That meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
