DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica Saints men's soccer team earned their second conference win of the season by defeating the Crown College Storm on Saints Field by a final score of 3-0.
The Saints offense looked strong off the opening whistle as they controlled the ball in the Crown end for the majority of the game. #Toby Peter# (So.-Spalt, Germany/J.S. Bach Gymnasium) started off the scoring just before the 12-minute mark of the first half, tipping in a #Greg Doornink# (So.-Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS) shot off of a #Jermaine Dacres# (So.-Nottingham, England/Haywood Comprehensive School) corner kick.
Dacres scored a goal of his own within five minutes and assisted on a goal later, extending his team scoring lead to 12 points (three goals, six assists). #Cody Sveiven# (So.-Coon Rapids, Minn.) added an insurance goal early in the second half by scoring his second of the season.
#Zach Schneider# (So.-Duluth, Minn./Marshall School) started in goal for the Saints, recording his third career shutout in three starts. He finished with two saves on the afternoon. His Saints earned18 shots against Crown keepers Jay Clementson and John Loeffler with ten aimed on net.
Next up for the Saints will be the Martin Luther College Knights on Friday afternoon. That match is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m. in New Ulm, Minn.
