DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team lost its second consecutive match today with a 2-0 defeat to Concordia-Moorhead at Saints Field.
The Saints fall to a 5-2-0 overall record, while the Cobbers remain unbeaten with a record of 4-0-3. CSS has not lost back-to-back contests, since losing three straight at the beginning of the 2005 season. The Saints have yet to beat the Cobbers at home in three meetings.
Concordia out-shot the Saints 15-7 in the match, but would not score until the second half, when in the 54th minute, Sam Johnson headed in a cross to give the Cobbers a 1-0 lead. Johnson scored again at 76:37 to extend the lead to 2-0. St. Scholastica had its chances late, but could not manage to put the ball on net as the Cobbers went on to win 2-0.
#Bailey Mahlum# (Fr.-Bismarck, N.D.) had seven saves in the loss for the Saints. #Sara Olson# (Sr.-Phoenix, Ariz./Paradise Valley CC) led CSS with two shots on the afternoon.
The Saints will be at home again on Friday when they will face Northwestern College at Saints Field. The kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. following the men's match.
