DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team scored two second half goals on its way to a 2-0 victory today over Concordia-Moorhead at Saints Field.

The win propels the Saints to a 3-2-0 overall record. The Cobbers fall to 3-4-0 on the season. CSS improves to 7-9 against the Cobbers all-time and have won three out of four in Duluth.

The Cobbers were in control early with three shots on goal. However, it was all Saints from there on out. CSS controlled possession for most of the first half and out-shot the Cobbers 10-8 in the first half. However, the Saints could not capitalize and the match was scoreless at the half.

The Saints kept the pressure on in second half and had a couple of near misses early. CSS finally broke through in the 62nd minute when #Jermaine Dacres# (So.-Nottingham, England/Haywood) led #Dustin James# (So.-Superior, Wis.) and James got around the defender in the box and beat the goalkeeper far corner to make the score 1-0 CSS.

The Saints added another goal in the 75th minute when it was Dacres again that struck a cross that was headed in by #Brandon Stemwedel# (Fr.-Grand Rapids, Minn.) to make the score 2-0 Saints. It was Stemwedel's first collegiate goal. CSS goalkeeper #Zach Schneider# (So.-Duluth, Minn./Marshall) made a couple of saves late and the Saints prevailed 2-0.

The Saints out-shot the Cobbers 22-12 in the match, including 12-4 in the second half. Schneider had eight saves to improve to 2-0-0 on the season. Mads Schmidt had 11 saves in the loss for the Cobbers.

The Saints will remain at home and will face Northwestern College on Friday at Saints Field. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
