WOMEN STRETCH WIN STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER EAU CLAIRE

Riding a five match win streak, St. Scholastica improved that season-best mark to six in a row with Sunday afternoon's inter-conference 7-2 victory over the visiting Blugolds from Wis.-Eau Claire closing out a weekend in which the Saints won three matches by a combined margin of 25-2.

The Saints (14-5) earned all three points in doubles against the (Fall 2007) WIAC runner-up then captured four of six singles matches to clinch the match victory over Eau Claire (11-7).

Sophomores Katie Motley (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS), Natalie Urick (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS), and Angela Shields (Pengilly, Minn./Greenway HS) each won in straight sets at, respectively, No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Junior Katrina Sacchetti (Virginia, Minn./Virginia Secondary) won the first set from her Blugold opponent at No. 4 but dropped the second, eventually earning the win with a third set super tie-break victory.

Motley's and Sacchetti's victories were their second of the day after picking up points in doubles. Motley and Paula Beckermann (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) took an 8-6 win at No. 1 while Sacchetti and Casey Ruberto (Thunder Bay, Ont./Hammarskjold HS) picked up the win at No. 2 with a quick 8-2 victory. Kelly Ross (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) and Megan Carlson (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) teamed up for the third doubles win at No. 3 with their 8-5 win.

Next up for the Saints will be an April 13th date in Hougton, Mich., where they'll put their win streak on the line playing two non-conference matches, first taking on Lake Superior (Mich.) State at Noon followed by a 3 p.m. match with their hosts, Michigan Tech.
