St. Louis meet results ... Falcon Invite meet results
St. Scholastica sophomore Alex Aarestad (Halstad, Minn./Oak Grove HS) raced to a new school record on Saturday at the Washington (Mo.) University Select meet in St. Louis, besting the old CSS mark in the 400 meter hurdles by nearly four seconds with a new Saints record of 1 minute, 9.49 seconds.
Along with her 4th place finish in the longer hurdles race, Aarestad was 5th in the 100m hurdles, crossing the finish in 17.63 seconds.
Joining Aarestad with top individual finishes at the Select meet which attracted 12 women's teams from Division-I, D-II, and D-III were Katelin Domitrovich (Ontonagon, Mich./Ontonagon HS), Trissica Bye (Grasston, Minn./North Branch HS), and Samantha Schultz, all in field events.
Domitrovich, the UMAC's 2008 Indoor high jump champion, cleared a height of 1.50 meters in her first outdoor competition of the spring season to finish 5th. She also placed 3rd in the triple jump with a leap of 9.25m.
Also one of St. Scholastica's Indoor UMAC champs notching her victory in the pole vault, Bye finished 7th in the same outdoor event with a final height of 2.67m.
Schultz had a best of 33.62m in the hammer throw to finish 5th at the Select.
The 4 x 100m relay of Briana Beilke (Sauk Centre, Minn./Sauk Centre HS), Katie Rockwell (Park Falls, Wis./Park Falls HS), Sarah Bartlette (East Grand Forks, Minn./Shattuck St Mary's), and Stacey Peterson (Gilbert, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) finished 4th, clocking a final time of 52.56 seconds, less half a second off the school record.
Four Saints that couldn't make the trip to St. Louis competed instead at Wis.-River Falls in the Falcon Invite.
Sophomore Katelyn Meger (Webster, Minn./New Prague) captured the 10,000m title with a winning time of 39:30.0 while senior Brittany Peterson (Carlton, Minn./Carlton HS) finished 3rd in the 800m race, finishing in a time of 2:30.08.
Sophomore Sarah Loots (/) and junior Erin Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) both finished in the top five of the triple jump. Loots was 3rd with a leap of 9.96m while Anderson was 5th with a final distance of 9.28m. Anderson also competed in the high jump and finished 3rd with a height of 1.45m while Loots was 9th in the long jump (4.68m).
Up next for the Saints on the outdoor schedule is the Blugold Open at Wis.-Eau Claire on April 12, and then a rare mid-week meet, the Bulldog Open at Minn.-Duluth on April 15.
