Their 8-1 at Martin Luther College on Saturday afternoon in New Ulm, Minn., was their seventh in seven conference outings this season moving St. Scholastica to within one more UMAC victory of yet another perfect league mark.
The win improved the men's record to 13-8 overall as well as stretching their regular season UMAC winning streak to 65 in a row.
Will Ruckel (Anoka, Minn./Anoka Senior HS) and Ryan LaCoursiere (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) got the Saints off to a winning start with an easy 8-0 win at 2-doubles while the 3-doubles team of Peter Sparby (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View HS) and Brady Vidovic (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) rolled to an 8-3 win.
Martin Luther's Daniel Laitinen and Jonathan Kehl notched the lone point of the day for the Knights with an 8-5 win at 1-doubles over St. Scholastica's Scott Hawley (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) and Brendan Anderson (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS), the loss ending a six-match win streak for the Saints pair.
Both players bounced back in singles action for wins though, Hawley exacting some revenge with a 6-0, 6-0 thrashing of Kehl at 2-singles and Anderson rolling over Martin Luther's David Wendland at 6-singles by the same score.
The afternoon win was the team's second of the day and third in two days as they near completion of their road trip to four different UMAC sites in three days.
Friday night the Saints fended off Northwestern in St. Paul by a 7-2 score then opened the day on Saturday morning in Mankato, Minn., where they took a 9-0 win over Bethany Lutheran.
All that remains in the road trip and regular season is a Sunday match at Minnesota-Morris.
