The second half of the conference schedule began on Friday for the UMAC-leading Saints and they kept their unblemished league mark intact with a 7-2 victory in St. Paul over the host Eagles of Northwestern College.
A 3-0 lead after doubles action propelled St. Scholastica to their 63rd consecutive UMAC win.
Will Ruckel (Anoka, Minn./Anoka Senior HS) rolled to a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at 6-singles to pull the Saints to within a point of the match victory.
Scott Hawley (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) at 2-singles and Ryan LaCoursiere (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) at 4-singles won straight set victories to push the Eagles over the brink and clinch the win for the Saints.
The other point in the win came at 3-singles where Nemanja Radosevic (New Belgrade, Serbia/Duluth Central HS) fought back from a first set loss to capture the next two sets and the singles victory.
St. Scholastica (11-8) rolled through the first half of the conference schedule with a 4-0 record, now at 5-0, and will complete their league slate over the next two days as they stay on the road to play both Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther on Saturday then close out the regular season at Minn.-Morris on Sunday.
Northwestern falls to 6-14 with the loss.
