The Crusader's from Susquehanna (Pa.) University jumped on top of the Saints with a pair of runs in the first but in the long run proved to be no match for a St. Scholastica squad that ran it's current win streak to six games with their 13-2 victory in Fort Pierce, Fla., on Saturday morning.
Over the course of their win streak the Saints have allowed fewer than two runs per game.
Shortstop Kyle Wojtysiak (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) cut into the Crusader lead with a solo home run in the 2nd inning, his third homer of the week-long Florida trip.
In the fourth Steve Kraushaar (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS)'s 3-run shot put the Saints up 7-2 to break open the game. Kraushaar finished the day with three hits and four RBI.
Also registering a multi-hit game for St. Scholastica were Darrin Carlson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) with three hits, and Sean Claugherty (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS), Mike Lewis (Esko, Minn./Esko HS), Joey Link, Steve Gerten (West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS), and Wojtysiak each with two apiece.
Picking up the win for the Saints (9-2) was freshman Josh Hawkins (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) (1-0) who earned his first victory of the season after surrendering two runs on two hits while striking out four in three and a third innings. Senior Brandon Fritz (Perham, Minn./Perham HS) pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief without allowing a run and struck out nine.
