The Saints (5-6) inched their season record closer to the .500 mark with a hard fought victory over King's (Pa.) College on Monday, taking a 5-4 win over the Monarch's on the Orange Lake courts in Orlando.

Brandan Anderson and Scott Hawley (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) at No. 2 doubles, and Will Ruckel (Anoka, Minn./Anoka Senior HS) and Ryan LaCoursiere (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) at No. 3 staked the Saints to a 2-1 lead following doubles action.

King's won at both No. 1 and No. 2 singles to tighten the match but Nemanja Radosevic (New Belgrade, Serbia/Duluth Central HS) and LaCoursiere, at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively, kept the Saints ahead with wins of their own.

The Monarch's captured the No. 5 singles match but the Saints clinched the win with Joe Vidmar's 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles.

The win improves St. Scholastica's win streak to a season-best three matches in a row.

On Wednesday the Saints will have the opportunity to climb above the .500 mark with two matches on the day, an early morning match against St. Ambrose (Iowa) University, then an afternoon match against Ferrum (Va.) College.
