St. Scholastica traveled to Minn. State Moorhead on Saturday afternoon for an inter-division match-up between the Division-III Saints and the D-II Dragons, but Moorhead didn't have enough firepower in the CSS 9-0 romp played in Fargo, N.D.

Three Saints doubles pairings jumped all over MSUM with a trio of victories to take a 3-0 lead into singles play.

Needing only two points for the match victory St. Scholastica picked up three in quick fashion as Paula Beckermann (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer HS), Casey Ruberto (Thunder Bay, Ont./Hammarskjold HS), and Katrina Sacchetti (Virginia, Minn./Virginia Secondary) each routed their Dragon counterparts across the net.

Beckermann, an 8-4 winner at No. 1 doubles with Katie Motley (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS), demolished Ashley Taborsky at No. 1 singles, failing to lose even a game in her 6-0, 6-0 rout.

Ruberto and Sacchetti had teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, then Ruberto stormed to a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 3 singles while Sacchetti rolled over Laura Benz from MSUM 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

Motley at No. 2, Natalie Urick (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) at No. 5 and Angela Shields (Pengilly, Minn./Greenway HS) at No. 6 singles all won their matches, like the others, without dropping a set.

The win improves the Saints season mark to 8-4 while Minn. State Moorhead drops to 2-7.
