Concordia-Moorhead proved to be not just what the doctor ordered for the Saints in their second match of the day as St. Scholastica (1-1) thrashed the Cobbers (1-2) by a 9-0 score on Sunday afternoon in the Gold's Gym Tennis Center in St. Cloud, Minn.

After challenging but falling 6-3 to Division II St. Cloud State earlier in the day, the Saints rebounded with straight set wins in singles action and strong victories in each of three doubles matches to capture their first win of the season.

Paula Beckermann (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) remained undefeated with a second win of the day at the No. 1 singles slot, cruising to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ashley Leister from Concordia.

Katie Motley (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) also added her second win of the season without a loss, taking the No. 2 singles match 6-2, 6-3 over Mollie Miller.

Earlier in the day Angela Shields (Pengilly, Minn./Greenway HS) earned a win at No. 6 singles in the St. Cloud match and she, too, improved to 2-0 on the year with a 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) win against Concordia's Melanie Gail.

Casey Ruberto (Thunder Bay, Ont./Hammarskjold HS) at No. 3, Katrina Sacchetti (Virginia, Minn./Virginia Secondary) at No. 4, and Natalie Urick (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) at No. 5 each picked up their first wins of 2008 with victories in the Concordia match.

In doubles play, Beckermann and Motley teamed up for the win at No. 1, Ruberto and Sacchetti scored the win at No. 2, and the tandom of Megan Carlson (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) and Kelly Ross (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) completed the doubles sweep with the win at No. 3.
