Down 2-1 to visiting Bethel University on Saturday afternoon, the Saints took five of six singles matches to capture a 6-3 win over the Royals in the Burns Wellness Commons.
Katie Motley (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) at No. 2, Casey Ruberto (Thunder Bay, Ont./Hammarskjold HS) at No. 3, and Angela Shields (Pengilly, Minn./Greenway HS) at No. 6 each won their singles matches in straight sets losing only a combined total of 12 games in their three wins.
Paula Beckermann (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) and Natalie Urick (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) had lengthier battles on their hands, each winning in third set super tie-breaks.
At No. 1 singles, Beckermann dropped the first set but rallied to win the second 6-1 before winning the deciding tie-break. Likewise, at No. 5 Urick dropped her first set before storming back with a 6-2 win before she too won the tie-break.
The afternoon's lone doubles win came from Ruberto and Katrina Sacchetti (Virginia, Minn./Virginia Secondary) at No. 2, 8-4 winners over their Bethel foes.
The Saints improved their season mark to 3-2 on the year while Bethel falls to 0-3 with the loss.
