St. Scholastica hosted the Johnnies from Saint John's Univeristy on Saturday afternoon at the Arrowhead Tennis Center in Duluth, but the visitors were hardly kind in their 9-0 defeat of the Saints.
Brendan Anderson (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) and Scott Hawley (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) nearly picked up a point for the Saints in the opening doubles matches with a narrow 9-8 (7-3) loss at No. 2 doubles.
Dillon Sterle (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) captured the first set 6-3 against Trevor Beach of Saint John's at No. 1 singles, but Beach rallied in the second set (6-2) and downed Sterle in the third set super tie break 1-0 (10-6).
Those proved to be the two closest matches of the day as St. Scholastica fell to 2-5 on the year while the Johnnies (1-2) picked up their first win.
