DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team won its third straight game today with an 87-47 victory over Crown College at Reif Gym.

The Saints improve to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The Storm fall to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference. CSS improves to 18-2 all-time against Crown. The Saints have won 14 straight in the series.

The Saints jumped out to a 9-2 lead, but the Storm got the margin back down to two, four minutes in. The Saints then went on an 8-0 run to make the score 17-7 at the 14-minute mark. CSS later went on a 13-0 run to go up by 24. St. Scholastica went into the locker room with a 43-20 advantage.

The Saints shot 55-percent in the half, while the Storm were held to just 32-precent in the half. The Saints scored 24 points in the paint and had 23 points from their bench.

The CSS lead just grew in the second half, getting as high as 42 as the Saints went on to win easily 87-47. The Saints shot a season-best 56-percent from the field for the game and were 12-for-15 from the free throw line. Crown shot just 39-percent and were out-rebounded 42-21. Second-chance points were 13-0 in favor of St. Scholastica.

#Chris Hamers# (So.-Onamia, Minn.) had a career-high 18 points off the bench for the Saints. #Justin Nelson# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./Marshall) and #Bryan Johnson# (Fr.-Randolph, Wis.) both added 14 points and #Troy Miller# (Sr.-Stillwater, Minn.) had 11 points. #Kyle Allen# (Sr.-Black River Falls, Wis.) had 11 rebounds and eight points. Jacob Jarvis had 16 points to lead the Storm.

The Saints will be on the road next Saturday when they face Finlandia University in a non-conference matchup. The tip-off is scheduled for approximately 2 p.m. central time following the women's game.
