UMAC All-Tournament Team
DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team again swept the UMAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships in 2008, defeating the Northwestern Eagles on a cold, snowy Saints Field by a score of 1-0.
The victory breaks a program record for wins in a season as the Saints earned their 20th of 2008. The CSS player who wears number 20, #Robin Johnson# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./Marshall School), scored the lone goal of the game off a header from a #Sarah Bartlette# (Jr.-East Grand Forks, Minn./Shattuck-St.Mary's) corner kick. It was her 20th goal of the year.
Goalkeeper #Erin Olejnicak# (Fr.-Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS) earned the win in goal for St. Scholastica, making two saves for her sixth shutout of the season.
The Saints allowed just three total shots while taking 16 of their own, aiming 13 on net against Northwestern goalkeeper Morgan Rhonda. Bartlette led the Saints in shots with four.
The Saints, who are 20-2-0 on the season after the victory, have a very good chance of making their second consecutive NCAA Division III Tournament. The 61-team field will be announced Sunday night at approximately 9 p.m. on NCAA.com. The pairings and first and second round sites will be streamed on NCAA.com at 11 a.m. on Monday.
