DULUTH, Minn. – For the second consecutive night, #Jordan Chong# (Jr.-North Vancouver, B.C.) netted two goals as the St. Scholastica hockey team defeated Hamline University by a score of 3-0 at Mars Lakeview Arena.

The Saints improve to 3-1-1 this season and extends their unbeaten streak to four games. Hamline falls to 2-2-0 overall. The Pipers are currently just outside the USCHO.com Division III poll, but that should change after this weekend.

CSS got on the scoreboard quick tonight as #Dennis Kubat# (Fr.-Outlook, Sask.) threw backhanded shot into the net a little over three minutes in to make the score 1-0. It was Kubat's first collegiate goal. #Carter Davis# (Fr.-Moose Jaw, Sask.) and #Chris Meagher# (Jr.-Victoria, B.C.) had the assists. It was a cleanly played first period with no penalties; in fact, there was only one penalty the first two periods.

The Saints extended their lead to 2-0 in the second period when, short-handed, Jordan Chong (North Vancouver, British Columbia/Dryden (SIJHL)) scored on a 2-on-1. It is the third short-handed goal of the season for St. Scholastica. The score remained 2-0 well into the third period when after the Pipers pulled their goaltender, Chong added his second goal of the night on the empty net as the Saints went on to win 3-0. #Trevor Geiger# (Sr.-Salmon Arm, B.C.) had the assist.

Hamline out-shot CSS 41-29, but Saints' goaltender #Steve Bounds# (Sr.-Airdrie, Alta.) was solid with a collegiate-high 41 saves. Beau Christian had 26 saves for the Pipers. Both teams were 0-for-4 on the power-play and there were 12 penalties called, 11 just in the third period.

The Saints will be on the road next week for the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) opener at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The puck drops at 7 p.m. on Friday.
