DULUTH, Minn. – In a rematch of last season's conference tournament championship match, the St. Scholastica women's soccer team defeated the University of Minnesota-Morris by a score of 2-1 today in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament semifinal match at Saints Field.

The Saints move on to the UMAC Tournament Championship match where they will face Northwestern College, who defeated Northland College 2-1 today. That match will take place at Saints Field on Saturday. The win gives CSS a 19-2-0 record, which matches the program record for most wins a season. The Cougars see their season come to an end as they finish with a record of 8-11-1.

CSS controlled possession for much of the match. The Saints scored just 1:58 into today's match when #Jen Krokum# (Jr.-Duluth, Minn./East) scored her 16th goal of the season, beating the goalkeeper far corner. #Robin Johnson# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./Marshall) had the assist. The Saints also hit the crossbar twice in the first half as the score was 1-0 at halftime. CSS had a 14-2 shot advantage in the half.

St. Scholastica extended its lead in the 58th minute when #Cortney McKenzie# (Jr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) struck a ball from 30 yards out and it went over the goalkeeper's head and into the net to make it 2-0. The Cougars made it interesting at the end when Maddy Gerber scored in the 84th minute. The Saints, however, would hang on and win its 14th straight match by a score of 2-1.

#Bailey Mahlum# (Fr.-Bismarck, N.D.) got the win in net for the Saints. Emily Jacob had nine saves in the loss for Morris. CSS finished with a 19-4 shot advantage.

The Saints will host Northwestern College on Saturday at Saints Field in the UMAC Tournament Championship match. The kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
