SAINTS GO 0-2 AT POINTER TIP-OFF

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team was tripped up by the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) by a score 56-48 today in the consolation game of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Tip-off Tournament in Berg Gym.

The Saints fall to 0-3 on the year, while the Raiders improve to 1-2. This was just the second meeting between the two programs. CSS came away with a 60-53 victory last season in the Pointer Tip-off.

#Katie Kimm# (So.-Mora, Minn.) got the Saints off to a good start as she drained a three for the first points of the game. St. Scholastica went on a 12-3 run halfway through the first half to take a 17-11 lead with six minutes left in the half. The Saints held on to the lead the rest half and went into the locker room with a 22-20 advantage.

A #Kelly Cinquegrani# (So.-Buffalo, Minn.) jumper put the Saints up 24-20 a minute into the second half. The Raiders then scored the next six points to take the lead. MSOE would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way. With margin at one at the 14-minute mark, the Raiders went on an 8-0 run to extend its lead to nine with 11 minutes to go. The Saints only got as close as six in the final 10 minutes of the game as MSOE defeated the CSS 56-48.

CSS shot just 20-percent for the game, while MSOE wasn't much better at 28-percent. The Saints had a 50-40 edge on the glass.

Katie Kimm (Mora, Minn./Mora HS) had 11 points to lead the Saints and #Kirsten Haukom# (Jr.-Marshall, Minn.) chipped in 10. Haukom was named to the all-tournament team.  #Laura Amys# (Fr.-South Range, Wis./Superior) had a game-high 12 rebounds. Carol Cayo and Kelly Costello each had 14 points to pace the Raiders.

The Saints will next play in the University of Wisconsin-Stout Thanksgiving Tournament starting next Saturday. They will face the University of Dubuque at 1 p.m. at Johnson Fieldhouse.
