DULUTH, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets out-scored the St. Scholastica women's basketball team 36-24 in the second half on its way to a 65-57 victory this afternoon in the Reif Gym.

In the only meeting between the two Twin-Port rivals this season it was close early as neither team led by more than four points in the first half. There were seven ties in the half and eight lead changes. After the Yellowjackets took a 29-25 lead with four minutes to go before halftime, the Saints closed out the half going on an 8-0 run to take a 33-29 halftime lead.

Junior #Katie Christensen# (Jr.-Elk River, Minn.) had a career-high in scoring in the first half alone with 15 points, shooting 5-for-6 from the field, including 2-for-2 from beyond the 3-point line. The Yellowjackets had an 18-12 scoring advantage in the paint. Superior shot 46-percent from the field in half, while the Saints were 37-percent.

A #Kelly Cinquegrani# (So.-Buffalo, Minn.) lay-up gave CSS a six-point lead a couple minutes into the second half. However, the Yellowjackets then went on a 15-1 run over the next six minutes to take an eight-point lead. The Saints cut the lead back down to two, but Superior responded with a 9-2 run capped off by a desperation Kaitlyn Houser 3-pointer as the shot clock expired with four minutes remaining in the game. That 3-pointer put a dagger into the Saints as the Yellowjackets went on to win by a score of 65-57.

Superior shot 47-percent for the game, while St. Scholastica was held to 35-percent shooting. The Saints were also just 13-of-22 from the free throw line.
