MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNS THIRD AT UMAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

MORRIS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's cross country team finished third this afternoon with 73 points at the 2008 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Cross Country Championships at Pomme de Terre Golf Club.

Martin Luther College won its 10th conference championship with 46 points. Northwestern College was second with 61 points. Behind the Saints was the University of Minnesota-Morris with 82 points and rounding out the top five was North Central University with 148 points. Nathan Loersch of Martin Luther finished first overall with a time of 27:13.

Senior #Jake Turman# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./Central) finished third overall out of 73 runners with a time of 27:41. #Pat Bigaouette# (Fr.-Chaska, Minn.) was seventh with a time of 27:58. #Tony Bye# (Fr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell) finished 12th overall, posting a time of 28:34. #Glen Gross# (So.-Hoyt lakes, Minn./Mesabi East) ran a time of 29:48 to finish 25th and #John Bradshaw# (Jr.-Duluth, Minn./Central) was 26th, running a time of 29:49.

The Saints will next compete in the NCAA Division III Central Regional on Saturday, November 15th in Grinnell, Iowa.
