JOHNSON, KROKUM LEAD SAINTS WOMEN OVER COUGARS

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team remain undefeated against UMAC opponents as they defeated the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars by a final score of 4-0 on Homecoming Saturday on Saints Field in Duluth.

The Saints leading scorer, #Robin Johnson# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./Marshall School), started the scoring on a well-placed kick just out of reach of the jumping Morris goalkeeper, assisted by #Angie Groh# (Jr.-Andover, Minn./St. Francis HS) and #Sara Olson# (Sr.-Phoenix, Ariz./Paradise Valley CC).

The Saints were held scoreless throughout the rest of the first half, but opened up the second frame with a goal at the 56 minute mark from #Jen Krokum# (Jr.-Duluth, Minn./East HS), who slipped the ball just past the diving 'keeper for her eighth of the season. Groh had her second assist of the afternoon on the tally.

Krokum was not finished there, scoring her second goal of the game and ninth of the season just before the 83rd minute on a power knee off of a #Sarah Bartlette# (Jr.-East Grand Forks, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's) corner kick.

Johnson came back with her second goal of the game less than seven minutes later with an assist going to #Kristen Stangel# (Sr.-Grand Rapids, Minn.). Johnson is now two goals shy of the college career goals record, and nine points shy of the career scoring record.

Goalkeeper #Bailey Mahlum# (Fr.-Bismarck, N.D.) faced three shots, saving both that went on net to earn her third collegiate shutout.

The Saints, who improve to 10-2-0 (6-0-0 UMAC) with the win, will hit the field again tomorrow for UMAC contest against Presentation College. The battle of the Saints begins at 2 p.m. following the men's match.
