SAINTS WIN FIFTH STRAIGHT UMAC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP

MORRIS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team clinched its fifth straight outright Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season championship this afternoon with a 3-0 victory at the University of Minnesota-Morris.

The Saints have won seven outright UMAC regular season titles and have shared one in the last 14 years. The Saints extend their winning streak this season to 12 matches. CSS has a record of 17-2-0 overall and 13-0-0 in the league. The Cougars fall to 6-10-1 overall and 4-7-1 in the conference.

After scoring two goals yesterday, it didn't take #Jen Krokum# (Jr.-Duluth, Minn./East) long to add another today by scoring 5:28 into the match to make the score 1-0 Saints. #Angie Groh# (Jr.-Andover, Minn./St. Francis) assisted on the goal. Groh now has 16 assists this season, five shy of the program record.

#Ellyn Litecky# (Jr.-Duluth, Minn./East) made the score 2-0 in the 19th minute. #Robin Johnson# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./Marshall) had the assist. Johnson then added her 19th goal of the season with less than six minutes left before halftime to make it 3-0. #Beth Flesvig# (Jr.-Proctor, Minn.) had the assist. The Saints out-shot Morris 18-0 in the first half. The Cougars got three shots on net in the second half, but it wasn't enough as the CSS prevailed 3-0.

CSS had a 21-3 shot advantage in the match. #Erin Olejnicak# (Fr.-Brainerd, Minn.) had three saves to improve to 6-0-0 this season. Emily Jacob had eight saves in the loss for the Cougars.

The Saints return home for Senior Day on Friday when they host Northland College in the regular season finale. The kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Saints Field. There will also be a Halloween Contest during the match, so come dressed in your best costume for a chance to win some money.
