CSS WOMEN BEAT PRESENTATION, CLINCH A SHARE OF UMAC CHAMPIONSHIP

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team clinched at least a share of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season championship today with a 3-1 victory at Presentation College.

St. Scholastica, who is ranked 12th in the central region, improves to 16-2-0 overall and 12-0 in the league. CSS has won the UMAC regular season championship outright the past four seasons. The Saints have won 55 straight UMAC regular season matches. Presentation falls to 1-13-1 overall and 1-10-0 in the conference. CSS is 12-0-0 all-time vs. Presentation.

#Jen Krokum# (Jr.-Duluth, Minn./East) put CSS on the board in the first half with an assist from #Kristen Stangel# (Sr.-Grand Rapids, Minn.). The score remained 1-0 until the second half when Presentation tied it up. CSS broke the tie with about 15 minutes left in the match when #Melisa Entinger# (Jr.-Mound, Minn./Holy Trinity) drew a penalty in the box, which led to a #Cortney McKenzie# (Jr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) penalty kick goal to make the score 2-1. Jen Krokum (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) then added another goal with a little over minutes left to make the final score 3-1. Stangel had the assist.

#Bailey Mahlum# (Fr.-Bismarck, N.D.) had one save to earn the win for St. Scholastica. Mahlum is now 11-2-0 this season.

The Saints will try to clinch the regular season conference championship outright tomorrow when they travel to the University of Minnesota-Morris. The kickoff is scheduled for noon.
