DULUTH, Minn. – Senior #Jake Turman# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./Central) ran the fastest 8k time in St. Scholastica team history today at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational with a time of 26:15.
The previous record was 26:29 held by Andy Prevost, accomplished during the 2000 season. Turman along with two of his teammates competed at the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational and the rest of the team was at the Crown College Invitational today.
Turman finished 153rd overall out of 494 runners and bested his personal record by 49 seconds. #Tony Bye# (Fr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis.) now has the fifth fastest 8k time in program history after finishing 279th overall with a pace of 27:16. #Pat Bigaouette# (Fr.-Chaska, Minn.) moves up to eighth on the all-time list with a time of 27:26 as he finished 295th overall.
North Central University won the meet with 68 points. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point was second with 73 points. Calvin College was third with 104 points. The Saints did not have a team score.
At the Crown College Invitational, the Saints were fourth out of seven teams with 111 points. Concordia-Moorhead won the meet with 40 points. The University of Wisconsin-Superior was second with 53 points and the University of Minnesota-Morris was third with 67 points.
Leading the way for the Saints was #Kyle Smith# (Sr.-Wright, Minn./Cromwell-Wright) who ran a time of 29:23 to finish 17th overall. #Glen Gross# (So.-Hoyt Lakes, Minn./Mesabi East) was 20th overall with a personal best time of 29:44. #John Bradshaw# (Jr.-Duluth, Minn./Central) was 23rd overall with a time of 29:53. #Jimmy Linn# (Fr.-Anoka, Minn.) ran a personal best time of 30:27 to finish 25th overall. #Andres Witrak# (Fr.-Duluth, Minn./Central) was 26th overall with a personal record of 30:31. The Saints had six runners achieve personal bests and two runners have season-best times.
The Saints will next take part in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championships, hosted by Minnesota-Morris on Saturday, November 1st. The meet begins at noon.
