DULUTH, Minn. – Senior #Robin Johnson# (Sr.-Duluth, Minn./Marshall) tied the school record for career goals this afternoon as the St. Scholastica women's soccer team defeated Bethany Lutheran College 4-1 at Saints Field.

Johnson now has 58 career goals, which ties Nikki Stroinski ('92-'95) for the most in a career. Johnson also added an assist today, which means she only needs four more points to tie the school record for career points, currently held by Jen Seip ('02-'05).

On a rainy and chilly afternoon, the Saints were looking to win their 51st consecutive Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season match. CSS got on the board first in the 14th minute when #Sarah Bartlette# (Jr.-East Grand Forks, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's) sent a cross in front of the net to #Angie Groh# (Jr.-Andover, Minn./St. Francis), who proceeded to beat the goalkeeper far corner to make the score 1-0.

With the score still 1-0 CSS in the second half, the Vikings got a breakaway chance at the 49:30-mark and took advantage of it as Emmy Breuer scored to tie the match at 1-1. It was the first-ever goal by the Vikings against the Saints in seven previous meetings. The Saints had out-scored the Vikings 46-0 prior to that point.

About 15 minutes later, the Saints regained the lead when #Jen Krokum# (Jr.-Duluth, Minn./East) struck a shot about 20 yards out that went over the goalkeeper's head to make the score 2-1. Angie Groh (Andover, Minn./St. Francis HS) had the assist. Robin Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School) scored 4:29 later on a similar shot to make the score 3-1. #Kristen Stangel# (Sr.-Grand Rapids, Minn.) had the assist. In the 77th minute, it was Krokum again on another similar goal that went over the goalkeeper's head to make the score 4-1. Robin Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School) assisted on the goal. That would be the final as the Saints won their 51st straight UMAC regular season match.

#Bailey Mahlum# (Fr.-Bismarck, N.D.) had one save to improve to 9-2-0 this season. Katie Renner had nine saves in the loss for Bethany Lutheran. CSS out-shot the Vikings 24-3 in the match, including 15-1 in the second half.

The Saints improve to 12-2-0 overall and 8-0-0 in the UMAC. If the Saints were to win tomorrow that would be the 200th win for the program. The Vikings fall to 2-10-1 overall and 0-7-0 in the conference.

The Saints will host Martin Luther College tomorrow at Saints Field. The kickoff is scheduled for noon.
