Freshman Chris Hamers nails a 3-pointer in the win over Presentation.
Box Score
The St. Scholastica men's basketball team rolled over the visiting Presentation College Saints on Friday night at the Reif Gymnasium in Duluth, pasting an 84-63 win over the team from S.D.
The victory moves CSS head coach
David Staniger to the top of the list in program history for most career wins as the St. Scholastica head coach. His 93 victories eclipses the previous mark of 92 set by John Nachtsheim between 1985 and 1993.
After building a 15 point halftime lead at 47-32, St. Scholastica (5-9, 3-1 UMAC) kept things rolling in the second half. They had a 25 point lead as late as with 5:03 remaining. By that time all of Staniger's starters were on the bench.
All 17 players on the St. Scholastica roster picked up playing time in the rout, just like in their previous outing a 97-51 win at Crown College.
Eric Langdon (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior HS) led St. Scholastica with 20 points including 4-of-7 from behind the 3-point arc. Freshman
Chris Hamers (Onamia, Minn./Onamia HS) and junior
Jesse Taylor (Superior, Wis./Maranatha Academy) each added 13 more in the winning effort.
Presentation (1-12, 0-4 UMAC) was led by Lucas Bruns' 17 points and 8 rebounds.
The win keeps St. Scholastica only one game behind the undefeated conference leaders, Northwestern (4-0 UMAC) and Minn.-Morris (4-0 UMAC). The Cougars from Morris visit St. Scholastica tomorrow afternoon.
