Box Score St. Scholastica's Toby Peter (Spalt, Germany/J.S. Bach Gymnasium) took over the team's scoring lead after picking up a goal and two assists in the Saints' 3-0 win over Northland College on Tuesday afternoon at Duluth's Public Schools Stadium.
St. Scholastica improved to 7-1-0 overall and 5-0-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference with the win over Northland (1-7-0, 0-5-0 UMAC), while also remaining atop the conference standings with their unbeaten UMAC record.
Dustin James (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) put the Saints up 1-0 in the 14th minute of the opening half, his second goal of the year and the eventual game-winner, with assists going to Robbie Miller and Peter.
Though the Saints took 21 shots in the first 45 minutes and limited the LumberJacks to only four, they still held only a one goal lead entering the break.
Six minutes into the second half, though, Peter put the Saints up two with his fifth goal of the year, this one coming off a feed from Doug Lee (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) near the right sideline.
Miller added a goal eight minutes later with Peter providing the assist to put the Saints ahead by three.
Peter, a freshman, has five goals and five assists for 15 points this season. Miller, who totaled 13 points last season as a freshman, now has five goals and a pair of assists for 12 points.
Goalkeeper Adam Whitehead (Pickering, Ont./Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School) only had to make one save for the Saints in a game that they out shot the 'Jacks by a 40 to eight margin. His fifth shutout of the season pads his team record of 23 career shutouts and has him halfway to his single-season team record of 10 set in the 2006 campaign.
Matt Fryer made 11 saves for Northland in taking the loss.
