Box Score In their first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference match of the 2007 season, the Saints (3-1-0, 1-0-0 UMAC) struck early and often at UM-Morris (5-1-0, 0-1-0 UMAC) on Saturday afternoon then cruised home to the win in their 4-2 victory over the Cougars in Morris, Minn.
Dustin James (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) opened the scoring for the Saints just over five minutes into the game on a goal with assists from Jermaine Dacres (Nottingham, England/Haywood School) and Toby Peter (Spalt, Germany/J.S. Bach Gymnasium).
The Saints then scored two goals only seven seconds apart in the 17th minute to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Cody Sveiven (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) scored his third of the season with an unassisted goal at the 17:25 mark. Teammate Robbie Miller then scored his third of the year at 17:32 off an assist from Dacres.
The first half ended with the Saints ahead 3-0 but Morris would try to stage a comeback by scoring once in the 47th minute and then again in the 52nd minute, but Miller put the Saints back ahead by a comfortable two-goal margin with his fourth of the year, this one in the 76th minute with an assist credited to Peter, his second of the game.
St. Scholastica goalkeeper Adam Whitehead (Pickering, Ont./Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School) had seven saves in the game in helping the Saints to the win while his counterpart from Morris, Tyler Simpson, made five saves in taking the loss.
