St. Scholastica had a rough day on the hardwood Saturday afternoon at the UW-Stout Super 8 Turkey Shootout, dropping an 86-52 decision to the Division-II Beavers in Menomonie, Wis.

The Saints were within two at 12-10 early in the first half but Bemidji State (1-2) then put together a 13-0 run for a 25-10 lead that St. Scholastica (1-4) couldn't recover from.

Senior Whitney Latham (Clear Lake, Minn./Becker HS) put up  a game-high 23 points for the Saints on an 8-for-18 night from the floor along with making three of six from the free throw line. Chipping in with 12 points, sophomore Kirsten Haukom (Marshall, Minn./Marshall HS) also nabbed eight rebounds in the loss for St. Scholastica.

Seeing game action for only the second time this season, junior Katie Cross (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) also picked up eight boards in making her first start of the season.

The Beavers shot over 50 percent from the field (53%) while the Saints weren't nearly as successful, hitting only 28 percent. Also making it tough on the D-III Saints was a Bemidji State defense that registered 13 steals in the inter-division contest.

It doesn't get any easier for St. Scholastica in their next game as they welcome D-II Minn.-Duluth to the Burns Commons on Wed., Nov. 28.
