The Saints played evenly with the host Blue Devils through the midway point of the first half, but after tying the game at 19-19 they saw UW-Stout -- the 2006-07 WIAC champion and an NCAA Qualifer -- go on a 33-8 run to close out the first half in a 90-48 loss in the opener of the UW-Stout Super 8 Turkey Shootout on Friday night in Menomonie, Wis.

Senior Whitney Latham (Clear Lake, Minn./Becker HS) helped spur the Saints early and finished with a team high 14 points on a 5-for-10 night from the field and 4-for-4 evening from the free throw line. Sophomore Alexa Leighton (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) chipped in with 11 points making 2-of-5 from the floor and hitting 7-of-8 free throw attempts.

The Saints had a rough night shooting as Stout held the visitors to under 38 percent in the first half and just above 30 percent in the second. For the night their 34 percent paled in comparison to Stout's 44 percent.

Shots from behind the 3-point line were even more troublesome for the Saints as they finished the night 0-for-8.

St. Scholastica (1-3) will take on Division-II Bemidji State on Saturday afternoon while the host Blue Devils (2-2) will play the Beavers on Sunday afternoon.
