For one final time, senior Chris Rubesch (Spooner, Wis./Spooner HS) led his Saints teammates over an 8-kilometer cross country race course.

The team's front-runner all season, Rubesch finished in 89th place with a time of 27:28 while teammate Jake Turman (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS) chased close behind in 104th place in a time of 27:51.

Jason Kask (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) (117th, 28:29), Tyler Kjorstad (Duluth, Minn./Marshall School) (123rd, 28:45), and Waylon Manske (Lindstrom, Minn./Bemidji HS) (125th, 28:47) rounded out the scoring places for the Saints in their 19th place finish with 558 points.

Nebraska Wesleyan University finished first in the team race with 88 points while Luther (Iowa) College, the women's team champion, was the runner-up with 109 points.

Martin Luther College, the only other UMAC school at the Regional, finished 21st with 609 points.

Rubesch had been an All-Conference performer in his sophomore season but a preseason injury at the beginning of his junior year hampered his results and dropped him to the back end of the team scoring positions.

This year he's finished in front in every race and captured the UMAC individual title as he and his teammates finished second at the conference meet.
