ST. SCHOLASTICA EXTENDS SHUTOUT STREAK WITH WIN OVER PRESENTATION

Box Score
It was a cold, foggy afternoon as the two Saints teams of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference battled at Griggs Field on the campus of the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

The College of St. Scholastica (10-2-1, 8-0-0 UMAC) received plenty of play from some unfamiliar faces to up-end their UMAC rivals from Presentation (0-13-0, 0-7-0 UMAC) by a score of 4-0 to remain undefeated in conference play and push their string of consecutive shutouts to three games.

Despite the fog, the Saints kept 14 of their 28 total shots on net and allowed no shots from the visiting Presentation team, marking two straight games in which Scholastica has accomplished that feat.

The home Saints broke the ice early in the game as Shannon Kresky (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) netted her sixth goal of the season off an assist from Becky Fisher (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) just before the six minute mark.

Presentation held tough throughout the rest of the first half, until a Sarah Bartlette (East Grand Forks, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's) corner kick was headed into the net by, ironically, 4-foot-9 inch Becky Bowerman for her second tally of the season in the 44th minute. Bowerman later scored again, booting a Melissa Entinger pass just over the reach of the leaping Presentation goaltender Sarah Whitlock.

Between Bowerman's marks, Sara Olson (Phoenix, Ariz./Paradise Valley CC) connected with her sixth goal of the season thanks to a bouncing pass in front of the net from Kresky.

With the shutout victory, St. Scholastica goalkeeper Kelly Vilen brings her record to 3-0 and has yet to allow a goal on the season.
