SVEIVEN HAT TRICK LEADS SAINTS OVER CROWN

Box Score
Led by a hat trick from freshman Cody Sveiven (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS), St. Scholastica (15-3-0, 13-0-0 UMAC) easily dispatched a host Crown College (10-8-0, 5-8-0 UMAC) squad on Saturday afternoon by a 4-0 in St. Bonifacius, Minn.

Sveiven scored the first three goals of the game, beginning in the fourth minute and finishing with his third in the 31st minute. Teammate and fellow freshman Dustin James (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) assisted on the first and third scores while yet another first year player, Andrew Ndekwe (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis South HS), assisted on the second.

Newcomer Jimmy Atol added a goal in the 39th minute, with an assist from sophomore Andy Westlund,  for the Saints' final four goal margin of victory.

St. Scholastica keeper Adam Whitehead (Pickering, Ont./Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School) had six saves in the win and recorded his team record 27th career shutout.

Throughout the game the Saints were able to dictate play, out shooting the host Purple Storm by a two to one margin and getting 17 of their shots on goal while limiting Crown to just eight on frame.

The victory puts the Saints one conference win away from finishing the UMAC schedule with a perfect 14-0-0 mark which would be a first for the program. One more win would also set a new season best victory mark, surpassing the 15-win mark set in the 2004 season.

The Saints will travel to UMAC foe Northland College on Oct. 27 for their final game of the regular season.

Following that match up, St. Scholastica will then host the conference postseason tournament on Nov. 3rd and 4th as the league's regular season champion and top seed.
