He is a communications professional with a variety of experience in television media, college athletics, and digital marketing roles. A native of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and worked his way through the media ranks in local sports television.
In 2015, Halverson began his sports media journey after being invited to host a sports talk show on campus television “TV-10” at UW-Eau Claire, before being hired as a sports videographer and production assistant at WQOW-TV, and ABC affiliate, in May of 2016. Throughout that time, he also worked for UW-Eau Claire athletics as a writer, gameday assistant, and video streamer. His primary role was with the volleyball team, but also assisted with men’s and women’s hockey, men’s and women’s basketball, and football.
While working at WQOW-TV in Eau Claire, he began filling in on-air and was a panelist on their “Sports OT Wrap” high school football analysis show. In 2018, Halverson moved to Duluth, MN for a similar sports videography and production assistant role at FOX-21 television.
Quickly after moving to Duluth, he landed a job at neighboring station KBJR-TV as the Weekend Sports Anchor/Sports reporter. Throughout the next four years (2018-2022), he would be promoted several times, eventually to Sports Director and Weekday Sports Anchor on the flagship NBC newscast in Duluth.
Some of Halverson’s
standout media coverage included live reaction at the Milwaukee Bucks 2021 NBA Championship, the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey championship in 2019, an extended “Friday Night Lights” football feature show from 2019-2022, and many other professional and collegiate athletic events.
In addition to anchoring duties, Halverson also spent two seasons as the ice-side reporter for live broadcasts of UMD men’s and women’s hockey games on the My9 Sports Network.
Most recently, he spent several years (2022-2025) working in a digital marketing role in the outdoors and ice fishing industry.
He currently lives in Duluth with his wife Alyson, and is a passionate angler in his spare time.
