csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica track and field team had 11 men and 11 women competing on Thursday at the St. Norbert College (Wis.) Twilight.
Foss Wins the 5k
Coming off a personal-best time in the 3000m steeplechase last weekend,
Easton Foss (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) went on to win the men's 5000m run on Thursday, beating the rest of the field by 55 seconds with a personal-best time of 15:51.69. Foss has recorded personal-best times in each of the first three outdoor meets in three different events.
Rudeck wins the Pole Vault
Mia Rudeck (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) won the pole vault on the women's side by clearing 10'0" (3.05m) in her third collegiate outdoor meet.
Other Top Men's Performances
Josh Trosen (Hackensack, Minn./Nevis HS) finished fourth in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:38.57.
Jimmy Lovrien (Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) was fifth in the 5000m run, posting a time of 17:06.15.
Frank Cerar (Plainview, Minn./Plainview-Elgin-Millville HS) was fourth in the pole vault, clearing a personal-best outdoor height of 12'5.5" (3.80m).
Wyatt Helgeson (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) was sixth in that event, clearing 10'11.75" (3.35m).
Jack Peru (Phoenix, Ariz./Trevor G. Browne HS (Phoenix College)) was ninth in the long jump with a leap of 19'6" (5.94m).
Other Top Women's Performances
Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS) went from running the 800m event the first two outdoor meets to participating in the 400m dash on Thursday and finished second with a personal-best time of 58.86.
Mel Aviñon (San Martin de los Andes, Argentina, Ontario Hockey Academy) won her heat in the 400m dash and was sixth overall with a time of 1:02.35.
Elizabeth Poskie (Cotton, Minn./South Ridge HS) was fourth in the 3000m run, posting a time of 11:07.81.
Anika Kling (Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS) won her heat and was fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 27.46. Kling was also seventh in the long jump with a leap of 15'3.25" (4.65m).
Emily Conley (Marinette, Wis./Marinette HS) was sixth in shot put with a toss of 35'4.5" (10.78m).
Natalie St. Marie (St. Francis, Minn./St. Francis HS) had the same mark and finished seventh.

The Saints will have a couple of athletes competing in a multi-event at the Phil Esten Challenge in La Crosse, Wisconsin on Thursday, April 20 and Friday, April 21, while others will compete at the Holst Invitational, hosted by Concordia University-St. Paul on Saturday, April 22.
