csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's and women's track & field teams had 14 competitors take part in the Eagle Open, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, on Friday night.
Hovland Sets Program Record
Casey Hovland (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) saw her winning streak come to an end, but set a program record in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:45.60 to place third in the event. That record stood since 2007 when Jen Houck set it and Hovland beat it by 33-hundredths of a second.
Winners
Jeremy Peterson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) won the hammer throw for the second straight meet and the fifth time this season with a mark of 191'8" (58.42m).
Jordan Johnson (Poplar, Wis./Northwestern HS) won the 3,000m steeplechase for the second straight week with a season-best time of 11:29.25.
Jacob Gallagher (Lisbon, N.D./Lisbon HS) won the 5,000m run, posting a time of 15:34.27.
Other Top Performances
Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) was second in the high jump, clearing 5'3.25" (1.61m).
Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS) was fourth in the 400m dash, finishing in a personal-best time of 59.53.

The Saints may send a couple of athletes to Naperville, Illinois to compete in the North Central College Gregory Invitational on Wednesday and Thursday. Otherwise, CSS will have competitors back in La Crosse for the UW-La Crosse Qualifier on Thursday.
