csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica track & field had five men and nine women compete on Saturday at the Pointer Qualifier, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, in a final attempt to qualify for next week's NCAA Indoor Championships.
Christianson Wins High JumpNicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) placed first in the high jump, clearing 5'6.5" (1.69m). It was her second-best jump of the season, just missing her program record by .01m.
Other Top PerformancesJordan Johnson (Poplar, Wis./Northwestern HS) placed fourth in the 3,000m run with a personal-best time of 10:48.89.
Casey Hovland (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) was fifth in the 5,000m run, finishing in 18:33.57.
Kali Erickson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS) was eighth in that event with a season-best time of 18:57.39.
Adam Wallenta (Eagan, Minn./Farmington HS) was ninth in the men's 5,000m run with a time of 16:22.79.
Jacob Gallagher (Lisbon, N.D./Lisbon HS) ran a personal-best time of 8:56.64 in the 3,000m run to finish 13
th.
Expected NCAA QualifiersThree Saints are expected to be named as qualifiers for next week's NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. As of this release, Christianson is ranked fifth in the high jump,
Kevin Wagner (Cleveland, Minn./Cleveland HS) is ranked sixth in the heptathlon and
Jeremy Peterson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) is ranked seventh in the weight throw.
The top 15 declared male athletes in each event, including the heptathlon will be selected to compete, while the top 17 declared female athletes in each event, including the pentathlon will be selected to compete
