Notables-Wagner set an overall PR and a heptathlon PR on the day-First indoor championships appearance for Peterson
GRINNELL, IOWA (

Kevin Wagner (Cleveland, Minn./Cleveland HS) and
Jeremy Peterson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) competed on Friday at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Grinnell College.
Solid Day One for WagnerWagner finished day one of the heptathlon in fourth place with 2,776 points.
The 60m dash was the first event of the day and Wagner went on to post personal-best time of 7.20 to win the event. He followed that with a heptathlon PR in the long jump with a leap of 21'8.75" (6.62m) to tie for second in that event.
Wagner regained the heptathlon lead after the shot put competition as he once again placed second with a toss of 40'6.25" (12.35m).
He finished the day by clearing 5'10" (1.78m) in the high jump, which would drop him down to fourth overall. He is only 28 points out of second and 116 points out of first with three events remaining.
The heptathlon continues tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m. with the 60m hurdles. The pole vault follows the 60m hurdles and the event concludes with the 1,000m run.
Peterson Finishes 11th in Weight ThrowPeterson was the final thrower in the second flight of the weight throw. After fouling on his first attempt, Peterson had had a mark of 56'0.5" (17.08m) on his second throw, which put him 10
th. Only the top nine of the 15 throwers advance to the finals, so he needed to better his mark on his third-and-final preliminary attempt. Unfortunately, he would foul again and would end up finishing 11
th overall.
