DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's and women's track & field teams had a few competitors trying to better their season marks at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Qualifier on Friday in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships next weekend.
Record BreakersNicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) needed a big mark in the high jump to have a chance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships next week and she did just that, clearing a program-best 5'7" (1.70m) to put herself in solid position for next week's championships. Christianson placed second in the event.
WinnersJeremy Peterson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) won the discus throw with a mark of 157'9" (48.08m).
Top FinishersPeterson was runner-up in the hammer throw with a toss of 186'1" (56.71m).
Jordan Johnson (Poplar, Wis./Northwestern HS) was second in the 3,000m steeplechase, posting a time of 11:31.30.
Amy Campbell (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) finished fifth in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:04.88.
Brianna Buske (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer HS) was sixth in the 400m dash with a time of 57.57.
Sammi Argir (Chisholm, Minn./Hibbing HS) was sixth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.65. Argir was also seventh in the 200m dash with a time of 25.97.
Alex Horoshak (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) was eighth in the long jump with a leap of 19'9.75" (6.04m).
Casey Hovland (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) was 10
th in the 1,500m run finishing in 4:49.18.
