WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica's
Kevin Wagner (Cleveland, Minn./Cleveland HS) and
Brianna Buske (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer HS) competed on Friday at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at JDL Fast Track.
Buske ran in heat four of the 400m dash prelims on Friday. Buske got off to a good start, having the lead at the merge, but would be shuffled to the back on the final lap in a tightly contested heat among the four runners. Buske finished with a time of 58.36, which was good enough for 14
th overall. That was her second-fastest time in that event.
Wagner competed in four events of the heptathlon. He started with the 60m dash and posted a time of 7.28 to place 10
th in the event. That was his second-fastest time in that event this season. He then tied for 12
th in the long jump, clearing 20'2.5" (6.16m).
After a disappointing long jump, Wagner bounced back with a fourth place finish in the shot put with a season-best toss of 40'4" (12.29m). Wagner finished the first day with a 10
th place finish in the high jump. Wagner cleared 5'10.5 (1.79m).
He finished the first day in 12
th place overall with 2,649 points, but is only 26 points out of 10
th and 54 points away from eighth place.
Wagner concludes the heptathlon tomorrow at 11 a.m. (ET) beginning with the 60m hurdles. He also competes in the pole vault and the 1000m run.
