Notables-Buske part of 4 UMAC meet records, two program records-Buske's 400m time currently ranks 19th in NCAA Division III-Christianson won both high jump and triple jump-Argir won both 60m and 200m dashes and part of 4x200m relay victory
DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team won 10 events to capture the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Indoor championship for the sixth straight year on Saturday at the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse.
The Saints won with 260 points. The University of Minnesota Morris was second with 182 points. Bethany Lutheran College came in third with 38 points and the University of Northwestern was fourth with 37 points.
On Friday,
Brianna Buske (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer HS) once again broke the program record in the 400m dash, winning with a UMAC meet record time of 58.15.
Amy Campbell (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) was second in that event and
Breanna Shofner (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) was fourth.
Buske also anchored the 4x200m relay team, which also consisted of
Sammi Argir (Chisholm, Minn./Hibbing HS), Shofner and
Mady Urman (Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS), who set a program and UMAC meet record with a winning time of 1:46.48.
Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) won the high jump, clearing a UMAC meet record height of 5'3" (1.60m).
Olivia Krejcarek (Manitowoc, Wis./Manitowoc Roncalli HS) was third and
Hailey Fentem (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) fourth.
Danielle Dickson (Roseville, Minn./Totino Grace HS/Roseville HS) was runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 16'7.25" (5.06m).
Rachael Hoium (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) was third and
Rachel Harmston (Cook, Minn./North Woods HS) fourth.
Jordan Johnson (Poplar, Wis./Northwestern HS) was third in the 5,000m run, finishing in a time of 19:09.15.
Brittany Ludwig (Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) was fourth in the weight throw with personal-best toss of 45'8" (13.92m).
On Saturday, the Saints swept the top three spots in the mile run, with
Casey Hovland (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) taking the top honors with a season-best time of 5:21.10.
Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS) was second and
Andrea Mogren (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) was third. Hovland would be edged in the 3,000m run and take second finishing in 10:43.96.
To better that, CSS went 1-5 in the 800m run. Buske won in a UMAC meet record time of 2:18.04.
Emily Lundgren (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) was second, Gibson third, Campbell fourth and Mogren fifth.
Hannah Russert (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS ) won the 60m hurdles in a time of 9.63.
Hailey Fentem (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) was third in that event. Christianson won the triple jump with a mark of 36'2" (11.02m).
Rachael Hoium (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) was runner-up in that event.
Argir won the 60m dash, posting a time of 8.12. Argir also won the 200m dash in a season-best time of 26.30.
Michelle Dube (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe/Luveve High) was third and Shofner fourth in that event.
The 4x400m relay team of Campbell, Lundgren, Shofner and Buske dominated to end the meet with a UMAC meet record winning time of 4:05.23.
Krejcarek was runner-up in the pole vault, clearing 10'0.5" (3.06m).
Jadyn Bonasera (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) was third in the shot put with a mark of 37'10.5" (11.54m).
Lisa Ito (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) was fourth in that event.
The Saints will compete at the Pointer Qualifier, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, next weekend. Action begins at 10:30 a.m.
