MORRIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Senior Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) made things happen with less than four minutes remaining in regulation on Friday to give the St. Scholastica women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over the University of Minnesota Morris and clinch a conference title.

The win gives the Saints at least a share of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season title and the No. 1 seed in next week's UMAC Tournament.

CSS and Morris came into Friday's game tied atop the league standings after the Cougars played the Saints to a scoreless tie earlier this month at Saints Field.

The Cougars had not allowed a goal in conference play this season and after 86 minutes today, the contest was heading towards another scoreless tie.

However, in the 87th minute, Kehtel beat her defender and eventually was able to put the Saints on board. Kehtel was originally credited with the goal, but it was later deemed an own goal.

Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) made just one save to earn the shutout and the win. Morris keeper Torri Jordan had five saves in the loss. The Saints outshot the Cougars 11-1.

The Saints (12-6-1, 12-0-1 UMAC) will face Martin Luther College in New Ulm in the regular season finale tomorrow at 2:15 p.m.
