NEW ULM, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team dominated Martin Luther College 10-0 Saturday in the Upper Midwest Athletics Conference (UMAC) Game of the Week.
Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) started the scoring for the Saints nine minutes into the game, assisted by Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech), and finished the game with a hat trick and two assists. Kehtel is now the leader for goals in the UMAC with 11.
Kaylee Benson (Nowthen, Minn./Anoka HS) scored less than a minute after Kehtel, assisted by Lauren Lynch (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS). It was Benson's first goal of the season and Lynch's second assist.
In the 35th minute of the first half, Kehtel scored her second goal of the game assisted by Claire Lubansky (Chaska, Minn./Chaska HS). Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) also scored and was assisted by Kehtel.
Hamm and Kehtel teamed up again three minutes later to score the fifth goal for the Saints. It was Hamm's second goal of the game.
The first half ended with CSS up 5-0 and leading the Knights with shots 21-3. Goalkeeper Keely Keese had eight saves for the Knights.
10 minutes into the second half Logan Williamson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) delivered a corner to Kehtel for a header and the Saints' sixth goal of the game.
In the 57th minute, Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) kept her point streak alive as she scored an unassisted goal. Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) scored in the 73rd minute, assisted by Lauryn Wilson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS). It was Wilson's second assist of the season.
Four minutes later Taylor Rozmark (Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS ) scored her first goal of her college career, assisted by Jalyn Britton (Eagan, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS).
Megan Seymour (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS ) saved five shots from the Knights (6-4 overall, 4-2 UMAC) to earn her fourth win and fourth shutout of the season.
CSS (8-2-1 overall, 7-0 UMAC) will host Northland College next Saturday at noon at Saints Field.
