DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica softball team split with the University of Minnesota-Morris on Friday, falling in game one, 1-0, but taking game two, 8-2, at Kenwood Field.

The Saints had runners at the corners with no outs in the fifth, but a double play and a strikeout ended the inning.
In the top of the seventh, Morris broke through as the Cougars scored on a throwing error to make it 1-0.
Bonnie Kowalczyk (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls HS) doubled with one out in the bottom half, but would be stranded as the Cougars handed the Saints their first conference loss 1-0.
Jen Falk (Altona, Manitoba/W.C. Miller Collegiate (Rainy River CC)) took the hard-luck loss, striking out nine. Randall picked up 14 strikeouts for the Cougars.
In game two, the Saints offense got going. Randall, who also pitched the second game for Morris, allowed six runs in game two as the CSS batters started to figure her out.
After Morris scored a run in the top of the first, the Saints answered in the bottom half with a RBI-double by
Kali Carlson (Duluth, Minn/Duluth Central HS) and then
Theresa Tauer (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) drilled a three-run home run to make it 4-1.
After Randall helped her cause with a home run in the second, the Saints got a two-run home run from
Brittni Johnson (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS (Northland CC)) in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 6-1. For Johnson and Tauer, it was their second home runs in as many days.
Jordan Spiering (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) and
Kali Carlson (Duluth, Minn/Duluth Central HS) had RBIs in the bottom of the sixth to cap off the scoring for the Saints as they salvaged the split with an 8-2 victory.
Darcy Roach (East Grand Forks, Minn./Sacred Heart HS) picked up the win inside the circle for the Saints, striking out eight and allowing just three hits. Carlson was 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs to lead the Saints offensively.
